Obituaries

On September 13, 1960, a baby boy was born to Emily and John "Jack" Wilson of Scarborough, Ontario. He was their fourth child, and his name was David. He was a Down Syndrome Child.

Over the years, David lived at home and was loved and protected. He had many happy experiences and enjoyed cottage swimming at Pleasant Point, riding his bike to Stone Lodge for his favourite Aero chocolate bar, and especially enjoying McDonalds treats.

In 2008 when Emily's health began to decline, David became a resident of Elgin Group Home in Lindsay, just a few blocks from the Wilson family home. He spent 18 happy years there, making new friends and having new adventures. The staff over the years always came to love David, and David always loved them in return. The family is deeply appreciative to Community Living Trent Highlands, City of Kawartha Lakes, and to the Elgin staff, both past and present, for the care and kindness they gave David. Also thanks to the staff of the Day Program that David enjoyed attending.

Now, just after his 66th birthday, David has gone to be with his beloved Mother, Father, and oldest sister Joy (deceased partner Louise Greer). Left with special memories are his sister Janice Geddes (Jim) of Lindsay, nieces Kelly Geddes (Tanis Phillips), and

Andrea Geddes of Toronto, his older brother Robert "Bob" Wilson (Georgia) of Orillia, niece Claire Doyle (Terry) of Pickering, grand-niece Emma Doyle of Pickering, and nephew Scott Lyons of Nanaimo, British Colombia.

David was a special child, who led a very special life.
