We the family of Kathleen Gillowaychuk (née McGouran) are heartbroken to announce her passing peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital, on Monday, September 28th, 2026. Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ron, sons Ronald, Stephen (Tara), daughters Cindy Heron (née Gillowaychuk) (Alan) and Michelle (Steve Johnson). Grandchildren, Kaelynn Atkins, Emily Froggatt, Angela Mortimer (Matt Dyer), Tristan Cook, Hannah Gillowaychuk and Charlotte Heron. Siblings, Tom McGouran (Evelyn), Bernie McGouran (Nancy), Maureen Woods (Phil), Mike McGourn (Fran), John McGouran (Sora), Bernadette May (Peter), Joan Ready (Paul), Annie McGouran, Margaret Harrison (Sam), Mary Collins (Martin) Karen McGouran. Great-grandson Theo Froggatt and many, many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by brother Timothy McGouran and granddaughter Kelsey Cunningham. After moving to Lindsay in her early 40’s Kathy started a new career and spent 30 years in banking with CIBC in both the Lindsay and Fenelon Falls branches. As the oldest of 13, mother to 4, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother to many more, Kathy loved her family dearly and they were the center of her life. She could be often found in her garden, if you could get her out of her kitchen that is. A celebration of life was held on Saturday October 10th at the home of her bonus children Ted and Melissa McFadden. There was a private visitation for family at Mackey Funeral Home in Lindsay (33 Peel Street, Lindsay, Ontario) on Sunday October 4th from 1pm – 3pm with a private catholic service following. If you would like, the family would appreciate donations in Kathy’s name to Toronto Western Hospitals Pulmonary Rehabilitation Clinic Fund. Donations may be made online or by cheque through the Mackey Funeral Home.
