Obituary For Margaret Grace Wansbrough (Tangney)

Energetic and industrious, curious and creative, Marg (“Mags”) loved to keep busy. Born to Alice and Joseph Tangney, with sisters, Janet and Marion, fashionable Marg worked at Lindsay’s Hydro and Victoria and Grey Trust, with a foray at Labatt’s in London, before marrying Sandy (Robert) Wansbrough. Marg managed the family farm with Sandy while volunteering at her children’s school, working for Lindsay’s Downtown Improvement Board and training as an education assistant. As an EA, she worked at Grandview PS and IE Weldon SS and was the local CUPE secretary. An avid volunteer and donor before and after retirement, Marg was committed to many local organizations including St. John Ambulance, St Vincent de Paul, John Howard Society, A Place Called Home, Turtle Trauma, Ross Memorial Hospital and the foodbanks. With the Canadian Cancer Society, she organized the sale of so many daffodils that more had to be shipped to Lindsay. She was also a layperson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and, with Sandy, she organized the annual Kennedy Bay Road cleanup. Marg loved gardening, crafts with kids, letter-writing, travel, animals of all sorts, swimming and boating on Sturgeon Lake, rum’n’coke and entertaining. Dinner at Marg and Sandy’s meant rowdy meals with multiple desserts, numerous dogs under the table, and extra chairs for unexpected but welcomed guests. Marg leaves sister Marion, children Paula and (Robert) Joseph Wansbrough, their spouses Paul Kelly and JoAnne Kim, and grandchildren Samson and Jude Kelly, Sydney and Calim Kim-Wansbrough. Husband Sandy died in 2015. Marg will also be missed by friends Carol Jewel and Ron and Brenda LaTulippe. Visitation took place on Thursday August 13 from 2-4 and 6-8, Mackey Funeral Home, Lindsay. The funeral took place on Friday August 14 at 11 at St. Mary’s Church, Lindsay. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity that Marg supported. Donations may be made online or by cheque through the Mackey Funeral Home.
