Obituary For Peter Witt

Peter Witt, of Fenelon Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the age of 73, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Peter was aman of immense zest for life and warmth, whose resilience throughout his illness was an inspiration to all who knew him. He is most frequently remembered by others for his profound kindness and his unwavering optimism. Throughout his treatment, and indeed throughout his entire life, Peter maintained a continuous spirit of positivity and cheerfulness that lifted everyone around him.

For 40 years, Peter was a well-known and highly respected realtor in the community, sharing the ownership of Fenelon Falls Real Estate alongside his beloved wife, Wendy. Widely recognized for his honesty and integrity, Peter built a career grounded in trust and genuine care for his clients. He was a man who truly loved to stay active, always having a project on the go. Together, he and Wendy constantly took on new ventures, renovating properties throughout Kawartha Lakes. Peter was equally passionate about giving back to the region he called home, volunteering over the years with the Optimist Club, Junior Achievement, Hospice Kawartha Lakes, and Habitat for Humanity.

Beyond his career and community service, Peter lived a life filled with adventure, fun, and positive energy. He and Wendy shared many incredible travels across the globe, with their absolute favourite vacations being chartered sailing trips exploring the British Virgin Islands, the Greek Islands, and French Polynesia. Closer to home, Peter’s great joy was sailing the waters of Cameron Lake aboard their sailboat, "Witt's End," spending beautiful, peaceful nights out under the moon or joining dear friends for dinners on the lake.

Music was another great passion that fueled Peter's vibrant spirit. A rock-and-roll soul at heart, he loved bringing energy and fun to his community in countless ways, whether playing at seniors' facilities, church dinners, local fundraisers, or performing as a hired band at local community venues, events, and private parties. He was well-known across Kawartha Lakes and several nearby areas as the keyboardist for the Harry Peterson Band for over 20 years. This experience was incredibly near and dear to him, as it gave him the regular opportunity to perform alongside one or both of his sons. Peter was immensely proud of the musical abilities of all of his children. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of hard work, community spirit, great music, and treasured memories of days spent under full sail.

Peter will be forever in the heart of his beloved wife of 53 years, Wendy. They moved to Calgary after completing college, living there for eleven years where they shared many mountain adventures and had their children. He was a proud and loving father to Jonathan (Amy), Matthew (Lori), and Julie (Nick). His spirit will live on through his cherished grandchildren, Abbey, Jake, Anise, and August, who brought him endless joy. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Annette (Rene), Oliver (Donna), Nicole (Case), and Clas (Ruth), as well as his step-siblings, Beverley (Zen), Richard, and predeceased by Cheryl. He is also survived by Wendy’s brothers, Brian (Josefina) and Craig (Slavka), and was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ivan. "Uncle Peter" will be fondly remembered and missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who hold cherished memories of his life.

A Celebration of Peter’s Life will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #238 located at 23 Veterans Way, Fenelon Falls, Ontario.
