Obituary For Rochelle Leigh King

Rochelle Leigh King passed away on October 17, 2026, at the Ross Memorial Hospital in her fifty-fifth year. Rochelle’s life was so full and her light shone brightly. She touched so many lives with her wit, humour and personality. Those big beautiful green eyes were her strongest communicators. Rochelle was born in Toronto, March 24, 1972. She had a mutation in her 15th chromosome causing Prader Willi Syndrome, she also inherited the C9orf72 gene for ALS, which took her dad, Randy at age 71, grandfather, Randy at 57, and cousin Susan at 50. It seems ironic that a gal who was driven to eat would lose her ability to swallow. Rochelle was a teacher and taught all of us that knew her so much. She lived at Community Living, Elgin Street home for the past 19 years, where she received extraordinary care and was loved deeply. The parade of her fans came to bid her farewell daily in the Palliative Care Unit. Rochelle is survived and will be deeply missed by her mother Grace, brother Rob, and his wife Janie Hodgson. Rob’s children and grandchildren. Emerald and her husband Brad McLeod and their children, Lilly, Bella and Noah, and Avery and his wife Veronica DaCosta. A Celebration of Rochelle’s life will be held at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay, on Tuesday, November 3, from 1pm to 4:00pm.” Her cremated remains will rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lindsay. Memorial donations may be made online or by cheque through the Mackey Funeral Home to Community Living Trent Highlands, Elgin Street residence. The family has asked that you send your favourite memory of Rochelle for our Memory Book. Tributes may be left online at mackeys.ca.
