Deidrey Francois perfoming in Lindsay this October for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Professional entertainer, singer-songwriter, and Gospel artist, Deidrey Francois is coming to the Kawartha Lakes in support of our local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

This inspirational concert will take place on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m. at the Cambridge Street United Church, 61 Cambridge St. N., Lindsay.  Youth under 17 will be admitted free. Adult tickets are $20, to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters, and are available at Van Halteren’s Music Centre, 55 Kent St. W. Lindsay, as well as through the BBBS web site: kawarthalakes.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca.

“Our goal is to ensure that every young person who needs a supportive relationship has the opportunity to experience the power of mentoring. We want children and youth to know that they matter, that someone believes in them, and that they have people in their corner as they navigate the challenges of growing up. This concert is about bringing our community together, celebrating the incredible people who make our community such a special place, and raising awareness and support so we can continue creating those life-changing mentoring relationships for local young people,” said Janice Balfour, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton, in a press release,

Deidrey’s opening act and backing band will be a group of Lindsay musicians known as “Wellspring”, comprised of Mike Arthurs, Artemis and Pierre Chartier, Warren Graves, Margaret Hughes, Lisa Kapp, Chris Mabee, Rev. Sharon Campbell-Rayment, and Eric Smeaton.

“In this sometimes-chaotic world, we aim to offer hope, warm hearts, and focus on our precious youth through this musical program emanating love, happiness, and inner peace. We’ve put together a band of some wonderful local musicians who care about kids and the future of our community,” said project coordinator Pierre Chartier.

When asked about her own motivation to deliver this concert, headliner Deidrey Francois responded:  “So many in our world are struggling right now.  It is my intent to remind us of our connection with each other, and to that which is greater than ourselves, to ease the struggle a little…The band and I have been working hard to bring you a heart-centred and highly energetic performance that you don’t want to miss.  We can’t wait to fill you up with the healing joy of our music.”
