Grove Theatre invites community to annual pumpkin parade
The Grove Theatre in Fenelon Falls is hosting its 6th annual pumpkin parade Nov. 1st and Nov. 2nd. Residents are encouraged to keep their pumpkins after Halloween to put on display.
“It started because one of the staff members here at The Grove had been to a similar event, it is a great way for community and family to come together, outside, in the beginning of November, just before we all switch to winter mode,” said Tim Wisener, co-founder of The Grove.
Wisener said every year the event get bigger and bigger. “The community seems to love it, we had over 600 pumpkins last year and about as many people came through to see them. It is a great way to get outside with friends and family and see the creativity of the community. It has become a real social occasion and an excuse for the kids to throw the costume on one more time if they want to.”
Those who enter the PumpkinPalooza contest could win one of four family passes to a 2027 mainstage performance. Prizes will be awarded for most creative pumpkin; most realistic pumpkin; scariest pumpkin; and funniest pumpkin.
Every year some of the pumpkins reflect trends from that year. “Last year there were a lot of Blue Jays pumpkins and “6-7” themed ones, it is always fun to see what is on the minds of people each year,” Wisener said.
Wisener encourages community members to come out and see the pumpkins. “It is a great way to see the creativity of your community, to run into friends and neighbours, have a hot chocolate or apple cider, and see the Grove in a different season and a new light.”
Pumpkins can be dropped off at the theatre on Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Judging will take place Nov. 2, with winners announced Nov. 3.
