KLPS lay multiple charges following two traffic stops
On Sept. 19, members of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service initiated a traffic stop in the area of Kent Street West and William Street South in Lindsay. During the investigation, officers determined that the vehicle being operated did not have valid insurance coverage.
As a result, the driver was issued a Part III Summons to attend court for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, contrary to Section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
On Sept. 20, KLPS officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Kent Street West and Lindsay Street North involving a modified e-bike. During the investigation, the operator, a 43-year-old Lindsay man, was found to be driving while under suspension.
The driver was subsequently served with Part III Summonses for the following offences:
- Drive While Under Suspension x2, contrary to Section 53 of the Highway Traffic Act
- Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, contrary to Section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
- Drive Without a Permit, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
