Lindsay Farmers’ Market donates $5,200 to local schools and community organizations

Lindsay Farmers’ Market will donate $5,200 to local schools and community organizations, including $1,200 for student breakfast programs and $4,000 for organizations providing food, housing and community support. Approved at the market’s annual general meeting (AGM), the donations reflect its ongoing commitment to supporting the Lindsay community.

“We are so thankful for the Lindsay community’s support of our Saturday downtown market and our Thursday Wilson Fields market. We wanted to show our appreciation by coming together with our vendors to give back to such worthy causes,” said Jason Kennedy, president of the Lindsay Farmers’ Market in a press release. 

Lindsay Farmers’ Market will provide $1,200 to 12 local schools in support of student breakfast programs. The $1,200 contribution will support local breakfast programs that help provide students with access to nutritious food during the school day.

“As a farmers’ market, we believe strongly in giving back to the people and organizations that make Lindsay a wonderful place to call home. We’re proud to support local breakfast programs that help students start their day nourished and ready to learn,” said Angie Cameron, market secretary-treasurer, Lindsay Farmers’ Market.

The market will also provide $1,000 to each of four community organizations serving Lindsay and the surrounding area:

• A Place Called Home — $1,000: Supporting programs and services for individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
• Women’s Resources — $1,000: Supporting services for women and children in the community.
• Kawartha Food Source — $1,000: Supporting efforts to address food insecurity in Kawartha Lakes.
• The Salvation Army — $1,000: Supporting community programs and services for individuals and families experiencing hardship.

Together with the school breakfast program contributions, the donations represent a total community investment of $5,200.
