Sculpture stolen from downtown Fenelon exhibition

The Fenelon Arts Committee (FAC) is asking the public for information about a stolen sculpture that is missing from The Downtown Sculpture Exhibition. They believe it was taken sometime on Sunday, Aug. 23.

The statue, Hans by Rosalinde Baumgartner is made of black clay and is 15 x 11 x eight inches. 

The committee is asking for anyone who may have been in the area that has dash cam or security footage, or may have witnessed anything unusal to reach out. 

Baumgartne is in her 90s and has been part of the Downtown Sculpture Exhibition since it began in 2024. While installing earlier this year, she shared with the committee how proud she is of this work and believes it to be one of her very best sculptures.

Anyone with information, photos, video footage, or who observed suspicious activity is encouraged to privately email or message the FAC. You may also report directly to the OPP.

“Rosalinde has shown up for our village for the last three summers, sharing her work with us. Let’s get this sculpture back where it belongs. Let’s show Rosalinde that Fenelon has her back. Let’s give her and her art practice the respect it deserves,” a statement from the Fenelon Arts Committee said.
