Second annual Kawartha Lakes Winter Festival
The second annual Kawartha Lakes Winter Festival presented by Snowshoe Canada will occur on the last weekend of January 2027 at Eganridge Resort in Fenelon Falls. It is an inclusive event and everyone regardless of age or ability is welcome.
The purpose of the event is to encourage local area citizens to get outside in winter and get some exercise in Kawartha Lakes.
The festival agenda for this weekend includes a Torch Light 4 km snowshoe walk with dinner and live music on the Friday night, athlete on course familiarization on Saturday and Sunday is the Snowshoe Canada Canadian Open Snowshoe Championship and trail shoe run or walk with a gourmet lunch and awards to follow. The Winter Festival Family Fun is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the Sunday.
The Sunday morning snowshoe run will serve as the Canadian Open Championship for Snowshoe Canada. This is an open championship. Athletes from all countries are invited to compete regardless country of citizenship. The prize purse for the 10 km is $2,200, available to the top three open winners and the top Canadians. The Snowshoe Canada annual champions trophy will be presented to the top Canadians in the 10 km and 5 km snowshoe run.
Wood age group medals will be handed out in the Snowshoe running and trail shoe running events in both the 5 km and 10 km events.
All participants will recieve customer designed high-quality swag along with a wood finishers medal and gourmet hot lunch in the Tree Top banquet room overlooking Sturgeon Lake. The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario.
In the afternoon, they will have some outdoor family fun activities including tobogganing, snowman making and snowmobile rides, as well as many other activities.
