Secondary collision leads to impaired driving charge

Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after investigating a secondary collision.

On Friday, Sept. 18, at approximately 6:10 p.m., officers from the CKL OPP were dispatched to a minor two-vehicle collision that had occurred on Highway 7 in Emily Township, while other officers were already on scene investigating a collision that had previously happened. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the driver who they believed to be under the influence of alcohol. 

A demand to provide a sample of their breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was made with the results leading to an arrest.

The accused was transported to the CKL detachment for further testing.

Samuel Greer, 25, of Fenelon Falls, was arrested and charged with;

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on Oct. 29. The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
